Perfect for stays with friends and family, pet friendly too!
Firstly, may I introduce us.
My name is Shaun, and together with my wife, Ruth, we own and manage 2 fantastic, self catering holiday homes in beautiful Scarborough. We live in Scarborough ourselves and would love you to see why we love it so much! We have 2 award winning beaches, dramatic cliffs, historic harbour, amazing family attractions and a warm Yorkshire welcome to match! Despite being known as a seaside resort, Scarborough is also close to the countryside, Dalby Forrest, the North York Moors and the Wolds are all in close proximity.
Both our properties, Durham House and Sandy House offer modern, spotlessly clean and comfortable accomodation for you to base your stay on the Yorkshire Coast.
Both are 3 bedroom and sleep upto 6 guests comfortably. Both are in fantastic locations, close to the North Bay beach and town centre. The South Bay beach is just a 10 minute walk away.
Peasholm Park, the Open Air Theatre and North Marine Road cricket ground and the Alpamare Water Park are close by.
Peasholm Park, voted 6th Best Park in the UK is situated in Scarborough’s North Bay and is a must-see for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast.
The oriental themed municipal park offers a beautiful system of streams and waterfalls, mini bridges and mystical gardens for the whole family to enjoy. The park is also home to the world famous Naval Warfare (July and August) – a unique miniature sea battle that has been shown on television screens across the globe! A unique family holiday attraction and possibly the longest running show of all time!
During the summer months, head down to Peasholm Boat Deck and choose from one of the many boats available to hire. Whether you fancy a row, a paddle or a pedal, there is a selection of brightly painted rowing boats, canoes and dragon themed pedaloes for you to choose from
Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre was built by Scarborough Corporation in the 1930’s. The Lord Mayor of London opened the Open Air Theatre in Northstead Manor Gardens in 1932, and audiences flocked to see ‘Merrie England’, the first production to be staged at the outdoor venue.
The theatre underwent a major refurbishment and on 20 May 2010, the newly refurbished Scarborough Open Air Theatre was officially opened by The Queen of the United Kingdom accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh.
Since its official re-opening, the Scarborough OAT has played host to some of the music industry’s biggest stars, including Elton John, Britney Spears, Gary Barlow, Kylie, Noel Gallagher, Lionel Richie, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Biffy Clyro, Little Mix, Lewis Capaldi and many more.
The North Bay Beach is Scarborough's Blue Flag beach, meaning it is one of the best in Europe for cleanliness both on the sand and in the water, facilities and safety. Unlike South Bay, most of the North Bay Beach is away from the road, with the chalet-lined promenade running from 'the corner' to the Sealife Centre.
South Bay Beach is the busiest of Scarborough's beaches. And here's why: Not only do you have fine, soft sand and calm bathing water sheltered from the North by the Castle Headland, the arching bay almost faces South by the time it reaches the harbour, creating a fabulous sun trap. It's accessibility via Foreshore Road, it's proximity to the town centre and the amenities, shops, theatres, amusement arcades, eateries and Harbour make the beach a favourite with visitors and locals alike.
Scarborough has dozens of fantastic attractions. Step back in time at one of the most beautifully located castles in the country. Take a ride on the North Bay Railway with its historic Water Chute and new Sky Trail. Spend hours in the seafront Amusement Arcades, take in a world-famous act at the Open Air Theatre. Enjoy state of the art slides at Alpamare Waterpark. Go underwater at Scarborough Sealife.
Scarborough really does have it all...
The North York Moors is right on your doorstep. The wildlife will surprise you – from the moorland merlin, the UK’s smallest bird of prey, to whales off the North York Moors coast. The North York Moors has vast areas of clear, dark skies – you can often see up to 2,000 stars, including a swathe of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. The National Park also features over 800 Scheduled Monuments and 1,500 ancient boundary stones and crosses. The 44,000 hectares of heather moorland are designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its heathland habitat and breeding birds, such as red grouse, curlew and golden plover. There are 26 miles of Jurassic-era coastline to explore, including the famous old fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.
Whether watching or participating, Scarborough is a sports lovers paradise.
Why not play a round at South Cliff Golf Club, a stunning championship golf course or try one of the many watersports available at the North Bay. Scarborough is also home to the world famous 'Olivers Mount' racing circuit and the 'North Marine Road' cricket ground
